Chelsea get back to winning ways

A comfortable 3-0 win over London rivals West Ham saw Chelsea get back to winning ways on Monday evening.

Having lost their two most recent Premier League outings against Everton and Wolves, respectively, Frank Lampard‘s side desperately needed all three points in this London derby.

It didn’t take them long to get up an running either, despite Ben Chilwell forcing Lampard to introduce Emerson Palmieri early on.

Mason Mount corner in the 10th minute found Thiago Silva who arrived unmarked to power a header past Lukasz Fabianski.

Chances came and went for both sides without either making them count, but the biggest fell the way of Timo Werner as half time approached. Through on goal, the German was unable to put his recent difficulties behind him, firing a tame shot at Fabianski.

Werner was involved as the hosts doubled their advantage. Cutting onto his right foot on the left of the area, the Germany international scuffed a shot in the direction of goal, where Tammy Abraham was on hand to sweep it on its way, leaving the Hammers ‘keeper with no chance of reacting to prevent the ball from trickling into the net.

Abraham has his second almost immediately after. Mount again whipped a ball into the box that Christian Pulisic met, but having had the initial effort denied, the Blues had their third as their No.9 was there to easily finish.
