Chelsea hammer Juventus to go top of Group H

Chelsea went beyond avenging their earlier Champions League defeat to Juventus on Tuesday evening, hammering the Italian side 4-0 at Stamford Bridge to worsen Massimiliano Allegri’s problems.

Having fallen to a 1-0 defeat in Turin, Thomas Tuchel’s side were clearly out for revenge in London and they didn’t take long to take the lead as Trevoh Chalobah marked his first start in the competition by turning home after the ball had fallen his way via Antonio Rudiger’s arm.

Reece James smashed in a second after half time before Callum Hudson-Odoi finished having been found by Ruben Loftus-Cheek just three minutes later.
Wojciech Szczesny prevented things from getting any worse for Juventus until stoppage time. Then, in the 95th minute, Timo Werner appeared to add a fourth. Hakim Ziyech stole the ball from Weston McKennie to break down the left and tee up the German for a finish.

Chelsea and Juventus now both sit on 12 points, though the Premier League side move into first place with a superior head-to-head record over the Bianconeri.
