Customs intercepts 3,122 rounds of ammunition in Imo

The Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘C’ Owerri of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted a cache of ammunition along the Elele-Port Harcourt Road.

The service also seized 2,682 bags of 50kg foreign rice as well as six truckloads of vegetable oil containing over 10, 000 cartons imported from Malaysia, all amounting to a Duty Paid Value of N442,473, 000.

The Customs Area Controller of Zone C, Owerri, Olusemire Kayode told journalists in Owerri, the Imo State capital, that about 3,122 rounds of live ammunition were intercepted along Elele-Port Harcourt Road.

He added that the ammunition was concealed among “computers and way-billed from Onitsha, Anambra State to Rivers State”.
