Nigerian Afrobeat superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has responded to speculation about his relationship with Seyi Tinubu, the son of Nigeria’s president.
After receiving online backlash for his recent remarks about the state of the nation, Davido clarified that he is not affiliated with any political group. He emphasized that his friendship with Seyi Tinubu does not prevent him from voicing concerns about national issues.
“I am not part of any City Boy group. When I criticized the government in the American media, people insulted me. I’ve been friends with Seyi Tinubu for years—nothing more. I often call and express my concerns to him directly,” Davido explained.
Davido also urged fellow entertainers and public figures to speak out against insecurity and injustice in Nigeria. He expressed disappointment that many in the industry, including himself, have remained silent.
“I can’t lie, as entertainers, we’ve been failing—myself included. We need to speak up; there’s too much injustice happening. Our country is in trouble,” he tweeted.
