Elvis Presley’s only child Lisa dies at 54 after cardiac arrest

Lisa Marie Presley, the only child of Elvis Presley, the late American music legend, has passed away at 54.

Priscilla Presley, her mother, announced her death in a statement.

“It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” she was quoted as saying in the statement.

“She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known,” she added.

Although Priscilla did not disclose the cause of her death, TMZ reports that the singer died after suffering cardiac arrest.

According to the outlet, the singer’s housekeeper found her unresponsive at her Calabasas home in California on Thursday.

It is understood that Danny Keough, her ex-husband, who was around at the time, performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on her.

Lisa was thereafter rushed to an undisclosed hospital where she was eventually pronounced dead.

Her death comes a few hours after Priscilla took to her Instagram page to solicit prayers for Lisa.

“My beloved daughter Lisa Marie was rushed to the hospital. She is now receiving the best care. Please keep her and our family in your prayers. We feel the prayers from around the world, and ask for privacy during this time,” she had written.

Lisa was born in 1968. Like her father, she had an impressive music career with several awards and recognition.

The singer also made the headlines for her love life on several occasions.

Lisa married Keough, her first husband who is a musician until they both parted ways in 1994.

She also had short-lived marriages to Michael Jackson, the late US pop star, and Nicolas Cage, the Hollywood actor.

She would later tie the knot with Michael Lockwood, her fourth husband, in 2006.

Her death comes about two years after Benjamin Keough, her son, also passed away at the age of 27 in California.
