Errors in Squid Game exposed

Netflix series Squid Game is all the rage right now and enjoying a huge moment of popularity, but fans have spotted some flaws and have been sharing them on social media.

The Korean series has been a massive success and has many people talking about it, but with greater attention comes greater scrutiny, even if well intentioned.

Among these errors picked up by observant viewers, one of the most curious is that a phone number appears on screen which is a real number and its owner has received thousands of calls.

Likewise, a bank account number appears at another time and it was also a real account, belonging to one of the producers. Some viewers sent money to the account, which has now been closed.

Errors in Squid Game

Spoiler alert! If you’ve not yet seen the series, you may want to watch it first and then come back to see if you spotted any of these.

Viewers have picked up on numerous continuity errors, particularly relating to characters’ identities. For example, participant 61 appears as a woman shortly after a man was 61, while the reverse happens with No.88.

Elsewhere, another participant’s file says they worked in a glass factory… Starting in 1897!

Other continuity errors include a changing umbrella in one of the games and a mobile phone which changes model from one scene to another.

Second season could explain loose ends

In an interview with CNN, series director Hwang Dong-hyuk said that some of the unresolved issues from season one would be addressed in an as-of-yet hypothetical second season.

One of the big mysteries left unclear relates to the story of the supposed leader of the organisation, about whom we know very little.

Then there’s the story of what really happened to detective Jun-ho. These and more could be clarified if we get to see more of Squid Game.
