Former Super Eagles striker Michael Eneramo has passed away after collapsing during a football match in Kaduna State.
Eneramo, aged 40, reportedly fell on the pitch while playing at Angwan Yelwa in the Television area of Kaduna on Friday. He had come on as a substitute in the second half when he suddenly collapsed without any physical contact, causing alarm among players and spectators.
Witnesses said immediate attempts were made to revive him, but they were unsuccessful. He was later confirmed dead at a nearby hospital.
Eneramo enjoyed a distinguished career as a Nigerian professional footballer, renowned for his strength, finishing ability, and prowess in the air. Born on November 26, 1985, he began his football journey in Nigeria before moving abroad, where he rose to prominence with Espérance Sportive de Tunis in Tunisia, winning league titles and the CAF Champions League.
He also played in Turkey with clubs such as Beşiktaş and Sivasspor. Eneramo represented Nigeria’s Super Eagles at international level, earning several caps.
In recent years, Eneramo was dedicated to grassroots football, running a football academy focused on nurturing young talent.

His untimely passing has deeply affected the Nigerian football community, with tributes expected from former teammates, clubs, and supporter.
