Folake Olowofoyeku: Nigerian actress making waves in US

A Nigerian actress and musician, Folake Olowofoyeku, is currently making waves in the US film industry acting alongside to American actors and actresses.
Olowofoyeku is an afro-electro-rock recording artist known as “The.Folake!”. She debuted at number one on the Afro Pop charts (CD Baby) with her self-titled debut single “The.Folake”.

Olowofoyeku also contributed music for the films “Death Race 2050” and “Female Fight Club”.
She is featured as David Bowie’s bassist in the music video for “The Next Day” which included Gary Oldman and Marion Cotillard. She also appeared in the national “Aids Will Lose” campaign for Chevron.

Olowofoyeku’s additional credits include a lead role in the film “Female Fight Club”, “Modern Family”, “How To Get Away With Murder”, “Law And Order: SVU”, “30 Rock” and “White Collar”. She also won Best Actress for her lead role in “When They Could Fly” at the ReelHeART International Film Festival in Toronto.
She will next be seen in Universal Pictures’ “Death Race 2050”.
In “Death Race 2050”, the future government keeps the masses placated with violent virtual-reality entertainment. The most popular event is the Death Race where drivers compete in a cross-country road race, scoring points for running down pedestrians and killing each other. Olowofoyeku plays Minerva Jefferson, a competitor in the Death Race of Ivy League pedigree. Malcolm McDowell and Manu Bennett also star in the
film, set to be released on January 17, 2017.

Growing up between London and Nigeria (Lagos), Olowofoyeku is the youngest of 19 children. Always having dreamt of delving into the arts as a musician, Olowofoyeku moved to New York City to pursue her passion. She received a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Theatre from The City College of New York and a Diploma in Audio Engineering from the Institute of Audio Research. Olowofoyeku also competed for CCNY’s basketball team in the NCAA league.
In her spare time, Olowofoyeku enjoys traveling, water motorized sports and Krav Maga. She currently resides in Los Angeles.
