The arrest was confirmed in a statement released on Tuesday by Sirajo Kamba, Director of Sharia at the Kebbi State Hisbah Board, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

The statement explained that the incident occurred at a residence in the Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi, where the man was discovered at another woman’s house.

Residents reportedly alerted Hisbah authorities around midnight on Monday after observing the man entering the woman’s home in a suspicious manner. Suspecting an illicit relationship contrary to Islamic teachings, the residents decided to notify the authorities.

Responding swiftly, Kebbi Hisbah Board officers arrived at the scene and requested permission to search the house. Initially, the woman denied that anyone was inside, but eventually allowed a thorough search, leading to the discovery of the suspect concealed inside a ‘Ghana-must-go’ bag.

Further investigation, according to Kamba, revealed an alleged romantic involvement between the man and the married woman. After questioning, both individuals admitted to the accusations.

Kamba stated that the suspects will be arraigned in court and face legal proceedings in accordance with Islamic law.
