Reality television star Teddy A, whose real name is Tope Adenibuyan, has opened up about how past domestic abuse allegations affected his marriage to actress and media personality Bamike Olawunmi-Adenibuyan, popularly known as Bambam.
Speaking during a recent episode of the WithChude podcast, Teddy A described the claims as false and said the incident caused emotional and reputational damage to his family.
According to him, social media reports at the time accused him of physically abusing his wife, including during her pregnancy — an allegation he strongly denied.
I woke up and my wife was downstairs watching a movie. She was pregnant and laughing, he said, explaining that there was no conflict in his home on the day the claims surfaced.
He added that he only realised something was wrong after receiving an unusual number of phone notifications and later discovering the accusations online.
Teddy A said the development left both him and his wife shocked and confused, noting that she kept asking who could spread such information about them.
The former Big Brother Naija housemate revealed that after contacting his manager, he was advised to remain silent and allow the issue to fade. However, he said the decision later had lasting consequences.
At the time, I didn’t understand the damage staying silent would do. Even now, when we post pictures, people still ask if I beat her,” he said.
He noted that the allegations changed how some members of the public perceived him and affected his reputation.
