According to pmnewsnigeria.com A 38-year old man, Mustapha Bakare, arrested and arraigned in court for being in possession of human skull, has been remanded in prison custody. The police at Orile Division arrested Bakare at White Sands area of Orile, Lagos, western Nigeria, while conducting a stop and search routine along the road.
Bakare was reportedly sighted with a polythene bag and was stopped for a search. Rather than comply, he reportedly fled, holding firm to the polythene bag, an action that was said to have aroused suspicion. The policemen chased and apprehended him. It was alleged that when Bakare was asked to disclose the content of the bag, he hesitated.
The police opened the bag and allegedly found a human skull inside it.
Bakare was arrested and the matter was transferred to the Homicide Department of the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba, Lagos, for further investigation.He was thereafter arraigned before the Ebute-Metta Magistrate’s Court on one count charge of being in possession of human part.
Bakare pleaded not guilty to the charge and the presiding magistrate, Mrs E.O. Daodu, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety who must show evidence of tax payment for three years.
The court also ordered that the surety must pay N50,000 into the Court Registrar’s account until the conclusion of the matter.
Bakare was, however, remanded in prison custody at Ikoyi pending when he will fulfill his bail condition.
