After we campaigned for Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu, we were not given a dime, Lalude lamented in a recent episode of the ‘Beyond the Fame podcast.

He also accused MC Oluomo, president of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), of failing to fulfill financial promises made to him and fellow celebrities who supported the campaign.

The veteran who is renowned for his masterful portrayal of ‘babalawo’ (herbalist) roles in Yoruba films recalled how he and other entertainers were camped for seven weeks, trekking long distances daily while MC Oluomo followed in his car.

Lalude, whose real name is Fatai Adekunle Adetayo, alleged that initially, they were given N10,000 per day for feeding, but payments stopped abruptly.

He claimed MC Oluomo promised him and comedian Ganiu Alapini Nofiu N1.5 million each but never paid.

We finished the work and no dime was given to us. Is it good? It was MC who called us, he said.

MC promised me and Alapini. He asked us to demand for whatever we wanted. We did but we got nothing up till date.

He took us to where we lodged to campaign for the president. He promised to give us N1.5 million each.

Whoever is behind these misdeeds will not prosper. I know they will still come to us by 2027 and we are waiting for them.

Lalude’s outburst comes days after Aminatu Papapa admitted she regretted supporting Tinubu during the 2023 elections.

Alapini also expressed his regret, citing a lack of compensation or recognition for himself and other celebrities who backed the president.

In 2023, actress Ronke Oshodi Oke voiced her disappointment for supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC) after witnessing the government’s handling of the EndSARS protests.
