Ibrahimovic sidelined with another injury

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is suffering from an inflamed tendon and he will miss out on AC Milan’s Champions League duel against Liverpool on Wednesday at Anfield.

The Swedish striker, who will turn 40 on October 3, returned to action last Sunday and scored a goal in his team’s 2-0 win over Lazio in Serie A after being sidelined for four months due to a knee injury.

“Zlatan would start this Wednesday, but an inflammation in a tendon can happen after four months of absence,” noted his coach Stefano Pioli in the press conference prior their Champions League opener.

“We hoped that this inflammation would allow him to play anyway. He tried but had pain. It is useless to take risks. We have many games [ahead].

I am sorry for Zlatan, but he will be back soon.”

Meanwhile, seven-time European champions AC Milan return to the Champions League this season after seven years of absence.
