Media personality Toke Makinwa has revealed she is open to becoming a second, third, or even fourth wife if the right opportunity comes along.
Speaking candidly on the latest episode of her podcast Toke Moments, the 40-year-old said,
“At this point in my life, if I have the opportunity to marry again, as a second, third, fourth or fifth wife, I will think about it.”
This statement comes after her previous reflections on turning 40 while being single and childless, which she admitted “used to make her tear up.”
“I am 40, I am single, and I am childless. I said it, and I didn’t die,” she said.
“But I don’t let myself wallow in self-pity. I focus on the life I’ve built I’m 40, a boss, I’ve built an empire, and I’m one of the most resounding voices in Africa.”
Toke also touched on the pain of her failed marriage to fitness expert Maje Ayida, which ended in 2016 after two years due to infidelity. She recalled being unfairly blamed for the breakup, despite her ex-husband fathering a child with another woman.
“People had different versions of my marriage. I was the victim, but I was blamed. It was traumatising,” she said.
Reflecting on her growth since then, Toke admitted that even if she had married again, she likely would’ve divorced a second time, emphasizing that healing and self awareness take time.
Her raw and honest revelations are sparking conversation online, with fans praising her for speaking her truth and redefining societal expectations for women at 40.
