Insecurity in FCT: Imam found dead in uncompleted building

An Imam with the Kubwa Muslim Cemetery, identified as Malam Abdurrashid Usman has been found dead in an uncompleted building near his farm.

It was learnt that Malam Abdurrashid, a native of Warawa in Kano State was declared missing prior to the discovery of his corpse.

One of his relatives, Adamu Isma’ila who confirmed the development to reporters, said the Imam left the house but failed to return.

According to him, the incident was reported to the police while the family were in search of the Imam.

He said, “We dispersed into the bush around Gado-Nasko farm from 8pm till 12am, but we could not trace him, apart from his clothes, a wheel truck that he used, as well as his axe, and the firewood.

“Yesterday morning, we conducted another round of search around the same location, and we were in the process of giving up when one of us advised that we should extend the search to an uncompleted building.

“We met his body with injuries on his head looking like he was hit with some of the firewood found close to the body.”

Insecurity in the nation’s capital took another turn recently as criminal elements continue to wreak havoc in many parts of the territory.

Recall that the Nigerian Union of Teachers, NUT, Abuja branch on Thursday embarked on five days warning strike to press for the protection of teachers and students from the activities of the assailants.
