Jordan, bound for the World Cup, held the Super Eagles to a 2-2 draw.

Jordan, set to feature at the FIFA World Cup, had to battle hard to earn a 2-2 draw against Nigeria’s Super Eagles in an international friendly held Tuesday night at the Mardan Sports Complex in Antalya, Turkey.

The match marked the end of Nigeria’s March international window, with the Super Eagles facing a Jordanian side currently ranked 64th globally.

Jordan surprised Nigeria early, taking the lead in the 17th minute through Mousa Tamari, who finished off a well-executed free-kick routine.

Nigeria thought they had drawn level just six minutes later when Raphael Onyedika slotted home after a sharp cut-back from Moses Simon, only for the goal to be controversially disallowed.

The equalizer eventually came in the 30th minute. Moses Simon, captaining the side on his 97th appearance, was quickest to react after Ademola Lookman’s shot was blocked, firing in a clinical left-footed finish—his second goal in as many games this month.

Nigeria took the lead just before halftime. Bright Osayi-Samuel whipped in an accurate cross to Emmanuel Fernandez, who was making his full international debut. The Glasgow Rangers forward controlled well and finished with composure, putting Nigeria ahead 2-1 at the break.

The second half saw a more physical contest. Francis Uzoho made way for Adebayo Adeleye in the 57th minute after a clearance mishap. To bolster the midfield, coach Eric Chelle brought on Wilfred Ndidi and Alex Iwobi for Yira Sor and Onyedika, with Iwobi earning his 98th cap.

Jordan’s perseverance paid off in the 77th minute as they equalized. Nigeria pressed to restore their lead, handing a senior debut to Philip Otele, who replaced Frank Onyeka, while Samuel Chukwueze came on for Simon. Tensions ran high in the final minutes, capped by a straight red card for Iwobi.
