During the Cannes Film Festival, Julia Roberts took time out to promote her new movie, Ticket To Paradise, which she jokes “is probably going to be terrible.”
At 54, the actress will reunite with George Clooney in a romantic comedy that promises to be entertaining.
“He plays my ex-husband. I think it’s so funny. The movie is probably going to be terrible because there’s too much potential for it to be great, it will just implode on itself. I think that should be the ad for the movie: ‘It’s probably going to be terrible.’ I’m so glad my publicist is on a plane right now,” she told Variety.
In Ticket To Paradise, Roberts and Clooney play two concerned parents who embark on a mission to prevent their daughter (played by Kaitlyn Dever) from making the same mistakes they made years before.
The two actors have previously worked together in the films Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Ocean’s Twelve, Ocean’s Eleven and Money Monster.
Back to comedy
It should be noted that this film will be Roberts’ first feature film role since 2018’s Ben Is Back and her first romantic comedy role in over 20 years, as prior to this film she participated in America’s Sweethearts, a 2001 film that grossed over $138,000, 000.
However, Julia Roberts’ highest grossing film success is Ocean’s Eleven, which in 2001 grossed over $450,000,000.
Ticket to Paradise was directed by Ol Parker (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again), who also co-wrote the screenplay with Daniel Pipski.
In addition to Clooney and Roberts, the film will star Kaitlyn Dever, Billie Lourd and Lucas Bravo.
The film is scheduled to hit theaters on October 21.
