Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he will return to Anfield for Liverpool’s final game of the season against Crystal Palace—but only once the Premier League title race is decided.
Klopp’s Fear of Being a “Jinx”
The former Reds boss, who spent nine years in charge and won both the Premier League and Champions League, admitted that he has avoided attending games since his departure. He fears his presence might jinx Arne Slot’s side, so he will only step into Anfield once Liverpool has secured the title.
Speaking at a charity event in South Korea, Klopp explained:
“Yes, the plan is [to be in Liverpool] but not on the bus. I will be there with the people, the people I saw when we were on the bus. That’s the idea, but we will see. I think I will be there for the last game.”
“I didn’t want to go earlier, to be honest, because I didn’t want to jinx it. If I’m in the stadium for the first time and they lose: ‘oh fck sake.’ So I go there when it’s decided.”*
Liverpool Marching Toward the Title
Liverpool currently lead the Premier League table and will face Southampton this weekend as they aim to extend their lead to 16 points. With Klopp planning his Anfield return, fans will be hoping for a fairytale ending to the season—this time, with the German celebrating in front of a packed stadium.
