Juventus have sacked Maurizio Sarri, following their Champions League last 16 exit at the hands of Lyon.
The Italian side went into the second leg at an empty Allianz Stadium 1-0 down and ultimately went out on away goals after a 2-1 win on the night.
That was enough for the Bianconeri hierarchy to fire Sarri, even though he won the 2019/20 Serie A title.
“Juventus announce that Maurizio Sarri has been relieved of his post as coach of the first team,” a brief statement released on Saturday afternoon started.
“The club would like to thank the coach for writing a new page in Juventus‘ history with the ninth consecutive Scudetto, the culmination of a personal journey that led him to climb all the categories of Italian football.”
Zinedine Zidane, Filippo Inzaghi and Mauricio Pochettino have been linked as possible candidates for the vacant role.
