Lil wayne enlists Drake for First single of his Last Solo album ever “Cartar V”

20140503-wayne-x600-1399147303 (1)Lil Wayne got a jump on the weekend by releasing the first single off his upcoming Tha Carter V late on Friday night. Just a few days after Kobe Bryant hyped the album’s artwork on Twitter, it seems that Carter V season has indeed begun.
Rapping over a hypnotic synth line with production by Boi-1da and Vinylz, Lil Wayne is joined on the track by his Young Money associate Drake, who opens with a note of appreciation for “the man that put me in this shit.”
Tha Carter V is due out sometime in May (possibly on the 5th), and Lil Wayne has declared that it will be his final solo album.
Young Money compatriot Nicki Minaj also dropped a new track late on Friday night, tweeting out a SoundCloud link to her new track “Yasss Bish!!” just after midnight. Featuring an assist from Soulja Boy and an eerie chiming bell, Minaj takes the opportunity to slip in a little announcement for a new single: “Dropping my single in two weeks/The pink print album a movie.” (She also throws in a reference to Clippers owner Donald Sterling and uses an image of Orange Is the New Black’s “Pennsatucky” Doggett for the track’s artwork.)
