Arne Slot has confessed that the thought of facing Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League has kept him up at night. Despite Liverpool’s hard-fought 1-0 win in the first leg at Parc des Princes, the Dutchman knows the challenge of the return fixture at Anfield will be immense.
Speaking ahead of the second leg, Slot dismissed the idea of “dreaming” about the match, saying:
“No, you don’t dream, you have to work really hard to prepare the team the best way. When you have a game like last week, you wonder if you can even sleep! I don’t dream this week; we are focused.”
PSG Underestimated Liverpool?
After the first leg, reports suggested PSG players felt Liverpool were not as strong as Arsenal or Bayern Munich, who they had also faced this season. Slot responded:
“Some of them have said Arsenal and Bayern were better. PSG have improved a lot in the last two or three months. They press all over the pitch now, so they have changed. And yeah, it’s up to them how they felt. I hope they have a different opinion tomorrow.”
Liverpool’s Biggest Test Yet?
Slot believes PSG are the most complete team his side has faced, even more so than Arsenal, Real Madrid, and Manchester City:
“They are probably the richest club, but they also have so much quality. Their work rate is incredible, and their coach lets them play in a way that is not easy to face.”
