Madonna has been working diligently on the highly anticipated biopic she is writing. The Queen of Pop hasn’t found the process to be simple, and it seems like she’s having trouble getting it just right.
Julia Garner is reportedly being courted to play the singer herself in Madonna’s self-penned and directed musical biography.
“I have a very long script that is really hard for me to make shorter,” Madonna told Variety recently. “I’ve been whittling away at it, but it’s like hacking off my limbs.”

The singer added that because of her level of fame, there is pressure. “I’ve had an extraordinary life, I must make an extraordinary film,” she said.
“It was also a preemptive strike because a lot of people were trying to make movies about me. Mostly misogynistic men. So I put my foot in the door and said, ‘No one’s going to tell my story, but me!'”
About her biopic
She previously told the Associated Press that the filming process had been “pretty crazy so far.”
“I’m just in the writing process, and just deciding which stories to tell, how much detail to go into, which characters to develop,” she explained. “It’s really been a long and arduous process, but it’s been really therapeutic as well.”
The movie will trace the “Evita” star’s early years and ascent to fame as the biggest pop star in the world.

The actress Julia Fox from “Uncut Gems” is also said to be in negotiations to play her lifelong friend Debi Mazar. Other candidates for the role of Madonna included Florence Pugh, Alexa Demie, Odessa Young, Bebe Rexha, and Sky Ferreira.
Additionally, actresses had to go through a “grueling” audition process with casting director Carmen Cuba and a “Madonna boot camp” that included demanding choreography training sessions with the icon and Madonna’s choreographer that could last up to 11 hours per day.
