Omowunmi, the wife of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, moved the audience to tears at the 17th Headies Awards with a heartfelt tribute to her husband.
Mohbad, who passed away in 2023, was posthumously honored with two major awards — Best Street-hop Artiste and the Viewer’s Choice award for his hit collaboration with Chike, Egwu.
Taking the stage, Omowunmi spoke with grace and emotion, insisting she refuses to call Mohbad her “late husband,” as she believes he lives on through their young son, Liam.
“Although Mohbad isn’t here with us anymore, he lives on. I don’t like to address him as my late husband because he lives forever, especially through our son Liam,” she said. “Although Liam may be too young to grasp the depth of his father’s greatness, I know and believe that one day, he will.”
