Moses Bliss, the renowned Nigerian gospel musician, recently opened up about a health scare involving his wife, Marie Bliss. Marie fell seriously ill with an undiagnosed condition but has since made a complete recovery.
Speaking at the Mountain Experience programme in Abuja, Bliss described how the ordeal began unexpectedly while he and his wife were in the Midlands, UK. He recounted, “My wife and I were in the Midlands, UK, when suddenly, she started experiencing severe pain on one side of her body. Soon, her back began to hurt as well—she couldn’t lie down on her back or front, and her breathing became difficult. The situation became so dire that we had to rush her to the hospital.
Despite extensive testing, doctors were unable to determine the cause of Marie’s symptoms. Bliss shared that he was distraught and had to return to Nigeria for a previously scheduled programme. Doctors said they didn’t know the cause. They ran all sorts of tests but couldn’t figure out what was wrong,” he said.
Bliss recalled that on his flight back to London, he felt a spiritual prompting. On the flight, the spirit of God asked me, ‘What are you waiting for? Are you not going to put an end to this?’” Upon returning to the hospital, he prayed with Marie and offered her words of encouragement. Shortly after, while he was on his way home, Marie called to tell him she had been discharged from the hospital.
Moses Bliss and Marie, a Ghanaian-born lawyer based in London, announced their engagement in January 2024 and began their wedding rites the following month. The couple welcomed their first child in January 2025.
