Shady’s back. Eminem is feeling “Phenomenal” on the first single off the soundtrack to The Weinstein Company’s Southpaw starring Jake Gyllenhaal. Over a crashing drum-patterned beat, produced by DJ Khalil, Em uplifts with his motivational lyrics.
“Let me self-empower you / When you’re down and they’re tryna clown the fuck out of you / When you feel like you’re running out of fuel / I’ll show you how to use doubter’s fuel.”
The soundtrack, executive produced by Eminem, is due in July via Shady Records/Interscope and features new songs created for and inspired by the film.
Southpaw follows the reigning light heavyweight boxing champion of the world (Gyllenhaal) as he struggles with redemption. The film, which opens in theaters July 24, also stars 50 Cent, Forest Whitaker, Rachel McAdams, Rita Ora, and Tyrese Gibson.
