Nigerian troops kill 31 terrorists, recover gun trucks in Borno, Adamawa offensives

Nigerian military said its troops have killed 31 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists while various grades of weapons, including two gun-trucks and motorcycles in recent operations in Borno and Adamawa States.

In the statement, the military said the troops achieved the feat during offensives in Kukawa LGA and Bula Madibale, Sambisa Forest areas of Borno State and Umbo in Madagali LGA of Adamawa State.

Giving details of the operation, the statement indicated that on 15 September troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK)Sector 3 on patrol along the Baga–Cross Kauwa road in Kukawa LGA repelled an ambush involving IEDs and gunfire.

At the end of the encounter, eight terrorists, including two Munzirs and a Qaid, were neutralised while several others fled with injuries.

It added that on the same day, the Air Component of OPHK struck a meeting point in Bula Madibale, Sambisa Forest, killing over 20 terrorists and destroying logistics.

Items recovered from the scene include two gun trucks, 14 motorcycles, rifles, ammunition, and other materials.

Also in Adamawa, Sector 1 OPHK troops with CJTF and hunters raided Umbo in Madagali LGA, neutralising three terrorists and seizing rifles, ammunition, and a mobile phone.

No casualties were recorded among troops. The Military High Command commended their gallantry and urged the locals to continue providing credible information to support ongoing counter-terrorism operations,” the statement indicated.

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), supported by the Air Component, have sustained aggressive operations against Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists with major successes in Borno and Adamawa States.
