
Former Nigeria U17 trainee Ovie Ejaria scored a screamer to help Rangers beat FC Ufa to qualify for Europa League group stage.
The 20 year old who has been in outstanding form of late scored in the 9th minute before Dmytri Sysuev levelled for the home side to tie the game at 1-1.
Ejaria got on the end of a fine passing move by Rangers before curling an unstoppable shot into the top right corner of the net.
This is Ejaria’s 2nd goal this week and his 3rd for Rangers as he continues to Justify Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard’s faith in him.
Nigerian midfielder Sylvester Igboun was also on parade for FC Ufa and almost came close to winning the game for the home side with a stunning header which was kept out with by an equally stunning flying save from Rangers goalee McGregor.
Alfredo Morelos was sent off for two bookable offences after a moment of madness from the Colombian putting the Scottish side under pressure in the closing minutes.
However Gerrard’s side held on to secure a 2-1 aggregate triumph and qualification to the main phase of a European competition for the first time since 2010.
Rangers local rivals Celtic also made it through to the group stage making it the first time since 2009 two Scottish sides have made it to group stages of European competition.
