The hostility between Barcelona’s Gerard Pique and Shakira seems to have calmed with the pair now focused on separating on amicable terms.
Following the blessing of their lawyers, the former couple spoke to each other to find a way to follow through with the separation without a lengthy legal proceeding that would undoubtedly continue to cause a media storm.
Both sides are also actively dodging the interference of those who have other interests in the separation with both Pique and Shakira prioritising the welfare of their children.
Pique withstands pressure from Shakira’s followers
The Barcelona defender is also facing the ire of Shakira‘s followers who are exerting as much pressure on him to watch him crack.
However, Pique remains resolute in the face of growing criticism with the footballer actively stating that most important thing to him is the, “the peace of mind and wellbeing of his children”.
Pique is also relying on his close personal circles to help guide him through this difficult period.
Shakira wants to share custody of their children
It had been reported that Shakira would seek full custody of her children with Pique, some even speculated that she would label Pique an “absent father” should the children be forced to stay in Barcelona with the footballer.
But now she has offered to share custody with the defender, despite still wanting to move with them to Miami and away from Catalonia.
The current offer she has put to her ex-partner is for her to take the children to the United States with her and for her to pay for their full support, while also providing Pique with five first-class plane tickets a year so he can travel to visit them.
