Rangers thrash Haaland-less Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund struggled again without Erling Haaland and lost 4-2 on home soil to Rangers in their Europa League playoff duel on Thursday.

The Norway international missed out on the match after picking up an injury in the match against Hoffenheim back on January 22 and the Scotland reigning champions took full advantage of his absence to cruise past Dortmund at the Signal Iduna Park.

James Tavernier opened the scoring from the spot and Alfredo Morelos doubled Rangers’ lead before the half-time whistle. Rangers stunned Dortmund with a third goal just after the breakthrough John Lundstram, but Jude Bellingham pulled one back in the hosts’ bid to turn the game around.

Dan-Axel Zagadou netted an own goal before the hour mark to practically put the game to bed, while Dortmund managed to score a second through Raphael Guerreiro with a thunderous strike from the edge of the box.
