SS3 student jailed in Ogun State for threatening to kill teacher

An Abeokuta magistrate court has sentenced a 20-year-old secondary school student to three weeks imprisonment for threatening to kill his teacher.

According to NAN, the student identified as Segun Dosumu, who resides in the Iboro area of Ogun, pleaded guilty to the charge against him during the court sitting on Thursday.

After a review of the facts surrounding the case by Wale Diyaolu, the prosecutor, S. S. Sotayo, the magistrate, convicted Dosumu.

Sotayo said, besides the admission of guilt, all the evidence presented in court had proven beyond reasonable doubt that the convict was guilty of the offence as charged.

The magistrate sentenced the convict to three weeks in the correctional centre with hard labour.

An option of N200,000 in fine was included.

Diyaolu had told the court that the defendant committed the offence on November 23 at 9 am at Eyinni Comprehensive High School, Iboro, Yewa North of Ogun.

He said the convict, an SS3 student of the high school, threatened to kill or injure Ismail Fadeyi, his teacher, with a bottle.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened section 86 of the criminal code, laws of Ogun 2006.

Earlier, a student of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) was arrested and expelled for beating a female lecturer to a coma.
