The closed-door meeting, described as crucial, marked the first official engagement between the Commander-in-Chief and the new military heads since their appointment last week.

It was aimed at reviewing the nation’s current security architecture and outlining new strategies for tackling prevailing security challenges across the country.

Those in attendance included the Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi O. Oluyede; Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major General E.A.P. Undiendeye; Chief of Army Staff, Major General Waidi Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral I. Abbas; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke.

Presidency sources hinted that the President charged the new security chiefs to deliver results through coordinated operations, intelligence sharing, and improved troop welfare.

Tinubu, who has repeatedly pledged to make national security a top priority, is expected to inaugurate a new defence policy framework that aligns with his administration’s broader agenda of peace, stability, and economic recovery.

The meeting underscores a fresh direction in Nigeria’s fight against terrorism, insurgency, and banditry as the new military leadership assumes office with a mandate to restore public confidence in the nation’s security forces.
