South African superstar Tyla has achieved another historic feat as her global smash hit ‘Water’ surpasses 1 billion Spotify streams. 🌊🔥
Released on July 28, 2023, as the lead single off her self-titled debut album, Water has cemented her place in global music history.
With this milestone, Tyla becomes only the second African artist to achieve 1 billion streams on Spotify, following Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ (feat. Selena Gomez) in 2024. She is also the first African female lead artist to reach this record.
The song’s Travis Scott remix peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100, spending 29 weeks on the chart. The track also won Tyla multiple major awards, including:
