This weekend’s Clásico could be Víctor Valdés’ last after eleven years in goal for Barcelona. The only thing that could stop it from being his last is the Champions League draw, which could still draw ‘Los Blancos’ and the Catalans together in the latter stages of the tournament.
Although Barça still has to face Real Madrid in the Spanish Cup final in Valencia, Martino has already said that Pinto will start that game for the Catalans. Valdés has played in more Clásicos than any other keeper in Barcelona’s history, a total of 27 games in all competitions. Two years ago he overtook the previous record holder, Zubizarreta, who had played in 18 such games. Valdés has played in every La Liga Clásico since Rijkaard made him first-team keeper.
