Wayne Rooney is no stranger to newspaper headlines, both for his football and his off-pitch activities, yet he is rumoured to have been involved in yet another scandal in his private life.
The Derby County coach appeared to be the subject of several pictures that were posted online by at least three women, as yet unnamed, with one seen next to Rooney’s face in her underwear.
‘Mooney Rooney’ was the eloquently rhyming caption for the aforementioned photo, although at this point it did appear as though the former England international was asleep and fully clothed.
After a pre-season friendly defeat against Salford City, Rooney appeared at a nightclub before being pictured in a hotel room with the three aforementioned women.
Rooney wasn’t impressed to discover these photos had appeared on the internet and reported the matter to the police on Sunday, suggesting that the snapshots had been taken without his permission as he was sleeping.
Members of Rooney‘s entourage who were with the group at the Chinawhite club in Manchester made clear that there was no sexual contact between anyone on the night.
Greater Manchester Police are now investigating the matter further, although it’s likely that given his past indiscretions, Rooney‘s side of the story may be difficult for some to believe.
