A woman identified as Mrs. Rukayat Mohammed has been arrested after a man she lodged with at Good Samaritan Guest House in Gwarimpa, Abuja, reportedly died in their hotel room.
According to reports, Mohammed and the man had checked into the guest house to spend time together when, while returning from the restroom, the man suddenly collapsed.
Instead of raising an alarm, Mohammed allegedly took the man’s phone and left the room. Hotel staff later became concerned when the occupants did not check out at the scheduled time. Upon forcing the door open, they found the man’s lifeless body on the floor.
Rather than notifying the authorities, two hotel staff members—identified as Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus—allegedly removed the deceased’s body and dumped it under the Katampe Bridge along the Kubwa Expressway.
The man’s family subsequently reported him missing, prompting a police investigation. Detectives reportedly traced the man’s last phone communication to Mohammed, leading to her arrest. During interrogation, Mohammed stated that the man had been ill and was on medication. She told journalists, I went with a man in the hotel.
The man slumped and died,” explaining that he collapsed after returning from the restroom. Initially, she claimed he had not taken any drugs but later clarified that he was taking medication and had previously been treated at the National Hospital.
Mohammed said she left the room with the man’s phone in hopes of contacting someone from his contacts, but was unable to access them. The specific nature of the man’s health issues and the exact cause of death remain unclear.
Attempts by SaharaReporters to reach the spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Josephine Adeh, for comments and an update on the incident were unsuccessful, as she did not respond to calls or messages.
