Yung Miami & Lizzo Address Internet’s Obsession with Women’s Bodies

Yung Miami and Lizzo are calling out social media’s relentless criticism of women’s bodies, emphasizing that no matter what women do, it’s never enough.

During Lizzo’s Twitch livestream on March 22, the Grammy-winning singer called Yung Miami to address comments she made earlier on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast.

“Everybody says you look good, but then there’s that 5% saying, ‘She looked better when she was fat.’ You can’t make everybody happy,” Yung Miami explained.

Yung Miami’s Comments on “Club Shay Shay”

Earlier on March 19, Yung Miami discussed societal pressure on women to get cosmetic surgery, using Lizzo as an example:

“People said Lizzo was too fat. Now she looks good, but suddenly, people don’t like it. Pick a side!”

The City Girls rapper wasn’t attacking Lizzo—just pointing out how women’s bodies are always under scrutiny, whether they gain or lose weight.

Lizzo’s Weight Loss & The Never-Ending Debate

Since September 2024, Lizzo has been open about her weight loss journey, shutting down Ozempic and surgery rumors while sharing her fitness progress.

“It’s never enough,” Lizzo said, reinforcing the idea that women can’t win when it comes to body image.

Yung Miami added:

“If you don’t get surgery, they say, ‘She has a little boy’s body.’ If you gain weight, they say, ‘She’s too fat.’ If you get a BBL, they say, ‘We like natural bodies.’”

The Ongoing Criticism of Women in Music

Lizzo and Yung Miami aren’t alone. Ice Spice, GloRilla, Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, and Coi Leray have all faced endless criticism about their weight, post-pregnancy bodies, and outfits.

From fitness shaming to body shaming, it seems the internet is never satisfied.
