Tests on Sunday have confirmed that Gerard Pique suffered a calf injury in his left leg during Barcelona’s 1-1 draw away at Athletic Club on Saturday night.
Barcelona have not stated how long the 34-year-old will be out for, although it is expected that he will miss the next two weeks.
Pique had to be brought off after just 31 minutes at San Mames, with Ronald Araujo coming on in his place.
The discomfort in Pique‘s calf forced him to ask Ronald Koeman if he could be replaced, with the tests confirming that he will be unavailable for Barcelona‘s match against Getafe at the Camp Nou next Sunday, August 29.
Eric Garcia will also miss Getafe match
Another player that will miss that game is the player that started alongside Pique in the heart of Barcelona‘s defence, Eric Garcia, after he received a red card for his foul on Nico Williams as the last man.
Therefore, it is expected that Koeman will opt for Araujo and Clement Lenglet at centre-back against Getafe.
