West Ham United have parted ways with manager Nuno Espirito Santo following a disappointing 3-1 home defeat to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday a result that dropped the Hammers to eighth in the Championship table, below their opponents.
The loss followed a 3-2 home defeat against Southampton on October 24, compounding a difficult run for the east London club.
Hopes had been high for an immediate return to the Premier League after last season’s relegation, but West Ham’s campaign has been far from smooth. The team has won only six of their 13 league games, drawing four and losing three, leaving them six points adrift of leaders Middlesbrough and four behind second-placed Swansea City.
Nuno, 52, was appointed on a three-year deal in September 2025 after Graham Potter’s dismissal, inheriting a West Ham side sitting 19th in the league. Despite his efforts, he was unable to prevent relegation, which was confirmed on the final day of last season. Although his position was under scrutiny in the months following his appointment, the club opted to retain him in January and reaffirmed their support after relegation was sealed.
Prior to his time at West Ham, the Portuguese manager had spells in charge of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tottenham Hotspur, and Nottingham Forest.
