KWAM 1 to hold colloquium honouring Ayinde Barrister

Wasiu Marshal, the singer better known as KWAM 1, says he plans to hold a colloquium in honour of late Sikiru Ayinde Agbejeola, the late fuji musician popularly called Barrister.

Ayinde, aged 62, died on December 16, 2010.

KWAM 1 spoke of the development in an Instagram post on Monday where he shared a flyer.

Although he didn’t give details, the singer said he would be hosting the first colloquium in honour of Ayinde.

He said the event will include activities such as lectures, tributes, and musical concerts.

Ayinde was well known for his unique style of fuji music.

He released records under the label African Songs Ltd before starting his own label Siky-Oluyole Records. His popular record ‘Reality’ was out in 2004.

Ayinde Barrister earned so many notable awards during his lifetime.

The most significant is the conferment of the honour of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) conferred on him by Olusegun Obasanjo, the then president of Nigeria.
