Former Manchester United star Dwight Yorke has backed Cole Palmer to join Liverpool in the summer if Mohamed Salah leaves Anfield.
What Happened?
Palmer has been a revelation since joining Chelsea in 2023, scoring 39 goals in 75 appearances. Despite signing a long-term contract until 2033, Yorke believes Liverpool could make a move for the England international if they lose Salah, who is yet to extend his contract beyond this season.
What Yorke Said
Speaking to casinobeats.com, Yorke suggested that Liverpool is the only realistic destination for Palmer if he decides to leave Chelsea:
“Liverpool might be an option if Mo Salah were to leave… There’s no reason why it would not happen if Salah goes.”
He added that while Palmer is Chelsea’s top player, missing out on Champions League football could push him towards a move.
The Bigger Picture
Palmer’s future remains secure at Chelsea for now, but if the Blues fail to qualify for the Champions League, Liverpool could emerge as a tempting option—especially if Salah departs for Saudi Arabia.
What’s Next for Chelsea?
Chelsea will return to action on March 6 when they face Copenhagen in the Europa Conference League round of 16.
