Cubana Chief Priest had previously shown interest in securing the APC ticket for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections. However, in a series of posts on his official Instagram page on Sunday, he expressed unwavering support for President Tinubu’s leadership and the Renewed Hope agenda.

My commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 remains absolute and unwavering, he declared. I will continue our advocacy and mobilisation efforts to ensure the success of the Renewed Hope agenda. The APC is my party, now and always, and I stand firmly and unapologetically by the Asiwaju mandate.

Consultations With Uzodimma

Okechukwu revealed that he opted not to participate in the primary election after consulting with Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma and other party leaders. According to him, Governor Uzodimma explained that the APC had adopted a zoning arrangement, allowing Orlu Local Government Area to retain the House seat for two terms before rotating it to another council area.

As a loyal party man, I accepted the party’s decision, he wrote. Governor Uzodimma emphasized that it was not the turn of my local government area, especially since my elder brother, Asiwaju Jerry Alagboso, had already served three terms in the House. I respected and understood this position.

Cubana Chief Priest stated that his initial aspiration stemmed from concerns that the current representative was not adequately serving constituents. Nevertheless, he respected the party’s directive and chose not to contest, clarifying that he was not present at the primary venue and returned to Lagos instead.

No Regrets

He dismissed reports claiming he contested and received only 14 votes, describing such stories as misinformation and social media propaganda.

“I have absolutely no regrets about igniting political awareness in our constituency leading up to the primaries,” he added.

After the primaries, Seyi Tinubu, President Tinubu’s son, sent a message of encouragement to Cubana Chief Priest via Instagram, writing: Bro, sometimes by losing a battle, you find a new way to win the war. Keep your head up.

Cubana Chief Priest remains a steadfast supporter of the current administration and serves as the Imo State Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, a key political support group backing the President.
