Chelsea’s Cole Palmer Set to Withdraw from England Squad After Injury

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Cole Palmer is unlikely to join Thomas Tuchel’s England squad after suffering a muscular injury in training.

Palmer Ruled Out of Arsenal Clash

The 22-year-old picked up the injury on the eve of Chelsea’s Premier League match against Arsenal, forcing Maresca to leave him out of the squad. Without their star attacker, Chelsea fell to a 1-0 defeat at the Emirates, with Mikel Merino scoring the winner in the 20th minute.

Scans to Determine Severity

Palmer’s availability for England’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia is now in doubt. Maresca stated:

“I don’t think so, to be honest. His injury was from yesterday’s session—it’s a muscle problem, so I don’t think so.”

“He needs a scan, and the scan is planned for Monday.”

Gibbs-White Called Up as Replacement

With Palmer expected to withdraw from the squad, Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White has been added to Tuchel’s team as a replacement.

Chelsea Hope for Palmer’s Quick Recovery

The Blues hope Palmer will recover in time for their Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur after the international break. However, his return will depend on the results of his scans and his recovery progress.
