Doechii is cementing her place as one of the most important voices in Hip Hop today, and Tyler, The Creator is among those who recognize her brilliance.
During his latest interview with Nardwuar on March 27, the “Yonkers” rapper shared his admiration for the rising star, recalling how he first discovered her music through YouTube recommendations. Whether it was “CATFISH” or “NISSAN ALTIMA” from her 2024 project Alligator Bites Never Heals, Tyler was immediately captivated.
“I was like, blown away, and I just kept going and kept going and kept going,” he said.
So impressed was he that he reached out to Doechii directly. “Then I DM’ed her like, ‘I’m gonna need you in a few months,’ and then we linked. Yeah, she’s incredible,” he added. Their collaboration on CHROMAKOPIA‘s track “Balloon” later saw them perform together at Camp Flog Gnaw 2024.
Tyler also applauded Doechii for winning Best Rap Album at the 2025 Grammys, emphasizing the importance of supporting artists who bring true artistry and passion to the genre.
“I’m so happy that she did that, and she’s in folks’ face. We have to just keep supporting artists who care about things,” he said. “Every time she steps out, you see true care and love, and we gotta keep pushing that so we balance out with the fast bullst, which I also love, with st like this.”
Doechii’s influence continues to grow as she challenges industry norms, embraces bold artistic choices, and sets a new standard for the next generation of Hip Hop artists.
