As Kevin De Bruyne prepares to leave Manchester City at the end of the 2024-25 season, his former club Wolfsburg has cheekily extended an invitation for him to return to the Bundesliga.
The Belgian midfielder, who joined Manchester City in 2015 after a successful spell at Wolfsburg, is set to leave the Etihad Stadium as a free agent. During his decade-long tenure with City, De Bruyne became a key figure, winning six Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy, including playing a pivotal role in the treble-winning season of 2022-23.
In a playful post on social media, Wolfsburg reminded De Bruyne of his time at the club, quoting his farewell announcement and writing:
“Dear Kevin, do you remember? You and I ten years ago? How about the two of us again?”
The midfielder had a productive 1.5 seasons at Wolfsburg before making his move to City, winning the DFB Pokal and DFL-Supercup during his time in Germany.
While MLS clubs, including New York City FC, Chicago Fire, and Inter Miami, are reportedly eager to bring the 33-year-old to the United States, De Bruyne has yet to reveal his plans for the future.
All eyes are now on Sunday’s match, where De Bruyne will be back in action as Manchester City takes on Manchester United in a Premier League showdown at Old Trafford.
