Nollywood actress Lizzy Anjorin has reignited her long-standing feud with gospel singer Tope Alabi, revealing how her loyalty to the singer affected her personal choices and professional relationships.
In a video that has stirred reactions online, Anjorin said she distanced herself from fellow gospel singer Yinka Alaseyori simply because of her admiration for Tope Alabi.
“It’s because of Sis Tope that I never played Yinka Alaseyori’s songs on my page. I don’t hate Yinka, but I was just being loyal,” she explained.
She also recalled turning down an invitation to an award show in Canada because Yinka Alaseyori was scheduled to perform. “I was invited to an award ceremony in Canada, and Yinka was to sing there. I didn’t go because it was not Sis Tope who would sing,” she said.
Anjorin said she defended Tope Alabi during a recent controversy where the gospel singer was accused of sidelining her daughter’s father during her wedding. Despite pressure from her team, Lizzy said she posted Tope Alabi’s music in solidarity.
She even cited a fan email sent to Tope Alabi’s team on January 26, asking for her inclusion in a birthday surprise for the gospel artist evidence, she said, of how publicly known her loyalty was.
However, Anjorin now feels betrayed, accusing Tope Alabi of keeping silent while people mocked her over claims she was snubbed. “If not that Sis Tope is enjoying how people are mocking me that she disgraced me, she would have come out to talk. She humiliated me,” she said.
She also made bold allegations about Tope Alabi’s early days in gospel music, suggesting her career had links to traditional spiritual practices. “I am even the one that should not want to associate with her because the foundation of her gospel music had to do with rituals,” she claimed, adding that the singer started under a traditionalist-turned-clergyman.
“I didn’t carry rituals because I wanted to be famous,” Lizzy concluded.
