Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested Kehinde Makinde, widely known as Pastor Kenny, in Ibadan, Oyo State, for allegedly defrauding 18 fellowship members of N2.5 million under the guise of arranging a government-sponsored pilgrimage to Jerusalem. It was reported that Makinde promised each member N2 million in return.
According to PUNCH Metro, Makinde is also accused of deceiving unsuspecting victims with claims of spiritual deliverance across Ogun, Oyo, and Osun states. The spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the arrest in a statement released to journalists on Monday.
Babaseyi explained that Pastor Kenny was apprehended in Ibadan on August 3, 2026, at about 4:45 p.m., following four months of intensive surveillance and investigation by detectives from the Obantoko Division. Preliminary findings revealed that Makinde allegedly swindled the fellowship members in the Saje, Adatan area by falsely promising a pilgrimage and substantial financial rewards.
The suspect remains in custody as police continue efforts to identify more victims and arrest possible accomplices.
