In an exciting Game 2 of the NBA Playoffs, the Detroit Pistons and Los Angeles Clippers both secured pivotal victories in their respective series.
Pistons End 15-Game Postseason Losing Streak
The Detroit Pistons broke their NBA-record 15-game postseason losing streak with a thrilling 100-94 victory over the New York Knicks. Cade Cunningham led the charge with 33 points and 12 rebounds, while Dennis Schroder made a crucial tiebreaking 3-pointer with just 55 seconds left on the clock. Schroder finished with 20 points off the bench after being traded to the Pistons in February.
Despite the Knicks erasing a 15-point deficit and tying the game with a 16-4 run, capped off by Josh Hart’s dunk, the Pistons held their ground. New York’s Jalen Brunson was outstanding, scoring 37 points, but the Knicks struggled as key players Karl-Anthony Towns and OG Anunoby were both limited to just 10 points each.
The victory marked the Pistons’ first playoff win since Game 4 of the 2008 Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics.
Clippers Tie Series with Late-Game Heroics
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers tied their Western Conference first-round series at 1-1 with a 105-102 win over the Denver Nuggets. Kawhi Leonard was the star for the Clippers, putting up 39 points on 15-of-19 shooting, leading his team to victory. Norman Powell contributed 13 points, Ivica Zubac added 16 points and 12 rebounds, and James Harden finished with 18 points.
The Nuggets, who were looking to take a 2-0 series lead, struggled with turnovers, finishing with 20 compared to the Clippers’ 20. Despite a historic performance by Nikola Jokic, who recorded his 19th career playoff triple-double with 26 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists, Denver couldn’t hold off Los Angeles’ offensive surge. Jokic also struggled with seven turnovers in the game.
Both series are now tied at 1-1 as they head to their respective home courts for Game 3.
