Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji, the rapper known professionally as Oladips, has recalled an encounter where he was arrested and detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over issues of unpaid taxes.

According to Oladips, the officers arrived around 3 am, targeting multiple residents under suspicion of internet fraud.
The rapper clarified that his arrest was unrelated to cybercrime but instead about his tax history.
Nigeria just happened to me, Oladips stated. It was a normal night, and they entered my estate, going from house to house. They came to my house as well. It was like 3 am. I knew they were inside the compound, but I don’t do fraud.
He described being startled by the intrusion, emphasising his innocence of any fraudulent activity.
I was on my bed, pressing my phone, because that’s none of my business—a person who does fraud would be the one running, he said.
The next thing, I heard a loud noise from downstairs. They broke my kitchen door, entered my house, and were like, Hey, hey, where’s your phone?
The rapper noted that he only possessed two phones, which the officers confiscated before taking him into custody.
Oladips said that after a search of his devices yielded no evidence of criminal activity, the focus of his detention shifted.
He claimed he was detained for five days based on a different allegation: unpaid taxes.
They didn’t find anything on my phone, he explained. Then one of their superiors asked if I pay tax. So, they just held me for that.
The rapper alleged that the EFCC collected millions of naira from him before his release.
The EFCC has not issued a public statement regarding Oladip’s allegations.
