Ademola Lookman continued his impressive Serie A run on Sunday, finding the net once more as Atalanta secured a confident 2-0 victory over Fiorentina.
Atalanta dominated the contest from the outset, and their persistence was rewarded in the 41st minute when Odilon Kossounou opened the scoring with a stunning strike.
Meeting a clever pass from Charles De Ketelaere on the edge of the box, the Ivorian defender stepped inside his marker and unleashed a curling effort into the top corner, an unstoppable finish that capped a fluid attacking move.
Lookman doubled the lead shortly after the restart. In the 51st minute, De Ketelaere’s initial shot was parried by David de Gea, but Lookman reacted fastest, smashing the rebound high into the net to make it 2-0 and effectively seal the points.
Fiorentina had their moments, Moise Kean came close with a header that clipped the post, and both Piccoli and Kean were denied by excellent reflex saves from Marco Carnesecchi, but they lacked the cutting edge needed to alter the momentum. Atalanta remained sharp defensively, with timely blocks and composed transitions limiting the visitors’ threat.
The hosts nearly added a third late on through Nikola Krstovic, who fired narrowly wide after a slick passing move, while VAR intervened to overturn a potential Atalanta penalty in stoppage time.
Raffaele Palladino’s side closed out the match with authority, extending their strong home form and continuing their push toward the top end of the Serie A table.
Lookman’s latest strike adds to a growing list of decisive contributions, further cementing his status as one of the league’s most influential attackers this season.
