Nigerian pastor and televangelist David Ibiyeomie has addressed the criticism directed at religious leaders for their perceived silence amid the rising insecurity in the country.
Speaking during a recent service, Ibiyeomie asserted that pastors and other religious figures have not been entirely silent on national issues. He emphasized that concerns regarding governance and insecurity have been raised by church leaders over the years, but critics tend to overlook these previous interventions.
Now, nobody is speaking out. All those who used to protest are no longer protesting. Nigeria is a funny country. People spoke out during Jonathan’s administration, why aren’t they speaking now? They say men of God are not addressing the country’s insecurity, but those who spoke out during Jonathan’s term, why aren’t they speaking now? When we spoke, did you listen? We have been raising our voices for a long time, Ibiyeomie stated.
